🎤 „Ich züchte für Brands, die ich nie nennen darf“

🎤 “I breed for brands I am never allowed to name”

A conversation with Emilio from El Bruixot

He has been in the scene for over 30 years – and yet many people didn’t know him for a long time.
Emilio von El Bruixot is a living legend when it comes to genetics, seed production, and global breeder networks. For a long time, he operated under various names, and for good reason: Spain remains a legal gray area to this day.

Today, through his collaboration with German clubs, he appears more cautiously but more clearly in public.

🌱 Cuttings like eyeballs

“I work with seeds, yes – but often it starts with a cutting.”

Many of the elite genetics that Emilio develops originally come to him as clones only —that is, cuttings that have never been officially sold. His mother plants are strictly protected , and some of the genetics are decades old.

"Some varieties command real bidding. 1,000, 2,000 euros for a cutting.
I've also heard of someone paying $7,000—but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone."

đź”’ Why so anonymous for so long?

“I have several companies – including tropical plants, chilies and carnations.
If the authorities create problems with one of the other projects because they classify me as a 'cannabis grower,' that would be detrimental to business."

That is why Emilio was known only to insiders for many years.
His seeds appeared in catalogs – often under other labels.

🏆 30 years, 20 cups, countless phenotypes

“I have participated in competitions under various names.
Spannabis, IC Cup, social clubs, regional contests—I've lost count, but at least 20 wins in 30 years."

His stand at Spannabis is one of the oldest ever.

“Back then, the trade fair wasn’t even called Spannabis – but we were already there.”

đź’Ľ How are things going today?

“I work with many clubs, including those from Germany.
I provide seeds, advice, and sometimes exclusive material.
But what I don't do is sell cuttings. I keep the mother plants."

"I don't want to be famous. I want my genetics to live."

🧠 Conclusion?

“If you’re looking for good genetics, you have to know where it comes from.
But not everyone who developed it has to be a face on Instagram.”
