🌎 Worldwide – Between freedom and prohibition
Share
USA: Inconsistent. At the federal level, cannabis seeds are officially considered "cannabis," but thanks to the 2022 DEA memo (due to their THC-free content), they can be legally ordered in many states —including online.
Canada: Seeds are completely legal. You can buy, own, and even grow them in many provinces.
South America:
- Uruguay – very open: seed trade is permitted, and domestic production is permitted.
- Chile, Colombia – possession is mostly permitted, but sales are regulated locally.
Australia: Mostly illegal – exceptions in Canberra and with a medical license.
Asia & Middle East: Very restrictive. Import prohibited . Even attempts to ship can lead to serious consequences (e.g., Thailand, Japan, Saudi Arabia).
📦 And online trading?
Many large breeders and seed banks sell worldwide – via third-party platforms, with neutrally worded descriptions, and shipping via EU hubs. Legal protection is often on the buyer's side: "Own risk" is standard.
🧠Conclusion: Legal does not automatically mean safe
In international seed trade, knowledge = protection .
A violation can happen quickly – not during breeding, but during shipping.
That’s why many B2B providers recommend:
- clear terms and conditions,
- Legal advice in the target market,
- documented origin & THC values
- and above all: transparent communication with partners.
